A site everyone can use.

We want qrlay.no to be usable for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced motion. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard Norwegian rules on universal design refer to.

What we have done

  • No flashing. Pages change with a calm crossfade, without blinking to black.
  • Motion you control. Anything that moves on its own, such as the app demo and the scan line, can be paused with the pause button at the top of every page. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site starts with motion paused.
  • Video on your terms. Films only play when you press play, and the talk excerpt has subtitles in Norwegian and English.
  • Readable text. Larger body text, higher contrast and darker backgrounds behind text.
  • Norwegian and English. The site follows your browser language, and you can switch at any time with NO / EN.
  • Keyboard and touch. All pages can be reached with the keyboard (Tab and the arrow keys) and with swipe or the page dots on touch screens.
  • Structure. Headings, landmarks, labelled buttons and text alternatives for meaningful images.

Known limitations

  • The animated phone demo is visual. The steps it shows are also described in text next to it.
  • Some images contain text, such as slide content in stage photos, that is not fully described.
  • Image descriptions are in English in both language versions.

We are working on these points and test the site as it changes.
